FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Deneba Adds Web Design Capabilities To Canvas With Colada

Web-Publishing Tool To Debut In Canvas 5.0.3 Update

Miami, FL, October 16, 1997. Deneba Software announced that it is shipping
Colada(tm), its new web page authoring plug-in tool for Canvas 5(tm).
Colada, which is Java based, allows Canvas 5 users to create pixel-perfect
Internet pages quickly and easily. Colada emphasizes ease-of-use, instant
access to Canvas 5’s robust features, effortless previewing capabilities,
and functionality as its underlying strengths.

Canvas 5 users are invited to download Colada from the company’s web-site
at www.deneba.com. Deneba is featuring Colada in its Canvas 5.0.3 update
which it is shipping free of charge to all registered Canvas users. Deneba
is also distributing 5,000 free Canvas 5.0.3 evaluation CD’s at Seybold
West, October 1-3, 1997, booth #2201, South Hall, Moscone Center.

“Since we released Colada, one of the most frequently asked questions
directed to our customer support department has been: how much does Colada
cost?” said Joaquin De Soto, CEO of Deneba Software. “And the answer is:
there is no charge. Deneba continues to standby its commitment to offer our
customers powerful tools like Colada, free of charge, even after purchasing
Canvas.”

Colada beta testers have been quick to adopt the web publishing tool in
their daily design work. Across the board feedback has been extremely
positive. “Congratulations for a very nice piece of work,” said Sylvain
Foisy, Ph. D, Centre de Recherche, Montreal. “Colada is the perfect tool
for my web publishing needs.”

“Colada looks great. Deneba’s incorporation of Colada into Canvas 5’s
already sleek interface was seamless. It’s usability is excellent and
output is compact,” said Lee Noel. “The benefits of using Colada are
particularly significant especially for part-time web authors like me, who
want to create compelling personal and small business web sites without
expending too much time or effort,” said Jeanette Babson, sales/marketing
coordinator, Derr Flooring.

Colada is a one-step solution for creating visually appealing, intricate
web pages within Canvas 5. There’s no need to learn HTML code with Colada.
Each web page is automatically saved using both Java applets and HTML code.
Colada operates on both Mac(tm) OS and Windows(r) platforms. Colada is
compatible with all modern browsers enabling users to view web pages with
or without Java support.

Since all page design takes place within Canvas, there is a short learning
curve. URL management is both simple and intuitive. Hyperlinks can be
assigned to any object by simply accessing the URL command and URL
attachment palette. Assigned hyperlinked objects can contain links to pages
within a Canvas publication, to traditional HTML pages, or to external
links at remote web sites.

Canvas users can link http, ftp, and mailto URL tags to any object or text
selection in Canvas 5. Users can apply any colors and text styles to
hyperlinked text. The URL attachment palette also allows users to find
objects that have a specified URL assigned to them and remove the URL
assigned to any object or text selection. Colada users can even choose URL
prefixes (text at the beginning of Internet addresses) in order to quickly
assign web, ftp, and e-mail addresses from the pop-up menu.

Colada’s Exclusive Web Design Features Allow Users To:

Anti-alias text and objects to create smooth edges Combine vector objects,
raster images, and text in any layout Import GIF, JPEG, TIFF, and other
raster and vector formats Format text by applying typography effects such
as kerning, leading, and justification Convert publications and slide shows
into a complete web-site of hyperlinked documents

Colada pages are saved in a highly-optimized hybrid (vector/raster) format,
ideal for bandwidth-sensitive applications. In comparison to equivalent
graphical HTML pages, Colada creates smaller footprints which results in
quicker download time for people visiting your website.

Installing Colada is a breeze. Simply download Colada’s files from Deneba’s
website, place them into Canvas 5’s external plug-in tools folder and
you’re ready to design on the World Wide Web. Designing web pages has never
been easier with Colada. You can create pixel perfect documents and bypass
the layout and font limitations of HTML.
