New Focus, New Director for FileMaker Solutions Alliance

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Feb. 11, 1998 — FileMaker, Inc., a worldwide leader
in desktop-to-web database software, announced today that the Claris
Solutions Alliance (CSA) network of solutions providers will be renamed the
FileMaker Solutions Alliance (FSA). The FSA program will focus exclusively
on the FileMaker Pro line of award-winning database software.

The change is part of the transformation of Claris into FileMaker, Inc.
announced Jan. 27, and part of an intense focus of all the company’s
resources on growing the FileMaker business. The more than 2,500 members of
FSA will benefit from the company’s new focus.

“The new FSA presents a great opportunity for me and other members,” said
Steven Blackwell, FSA member and president of Management Counseling
Services in Alexandria, Va. “This program will allow members to help one
another as well as give vital input to FileMaker, Inc., helping improve and
grow the FileMaker Pro product line.”

The FileMaker Solutions Alliance helps its members deliver compelling
solutions, training and consulting to users of FileMaker applications. The
program empowers members to provide clients with the computing solutions
they need, giving them freedom to focus on managing and growing their
business.

Stuart Illian, a veteran sales and marketing executive, has been named
director of the FSA. Illian succeeds Jeff Gagne, who moves to a product
manager role at FileMaker, Inc. Illian previously was director of strategic
sales at Claris Corp.

“I am very excited to be leading this program which is so critical to the
success of FileMaker, Inc.,” Illian said. “Strengthening the FSA program,
and empowering our members to create even greater solutions to client
problems, will contribute to our success and the satisfaction of our
customers.”

Illian said top priorities for FSA this year are to recruit more and
stronger Windows-centric developers and to offer new programs that create
even greater opportunities for FSA members and FileMaker, Inc.

“Our FSA members are indispensable as we broaden and deepen FileMaker
solutions to customer problems,” said Dominique Goupil, president of
FileMaker, Inc. “Stuart Illian’s proven success in strategic sales and
partnership marketing makes him the right leader for FSA’s next step
forward.”

Members of the program receive numerous benefits: an FSA guide; a Toolbox
CD with valuable tools and full working versions of new software; a
technical information CD; access to the FSA Private Forum; FSA Talk, an
exclusive member-to-member forum for discussion of FileMaker product and
business topics; access to pre-released software; significant product
discounts; co-marketing opportunities and invitations to FSA events
including the annual developers conference.

With three million units of software distributed, FileMaker, Inc. delivers
desktop-to-Web productivity and creativity for customers ranging from SOHO
to the enterprise. Its award-winning FileMaker Pro line of database
software provides relational power, instant and custom Internet publishing
and legendary ease-of-use. Its unique blend of power and ease has fueled
significant growth: sales of FileMaker Pro for Windows have tripled in the
past two years, complementing its long-time leadership among Macintosh
database software.
