152 Evelyn Avenue, Suite 101 Toronto, Ontario M6P 2Z7

TORONTO, Canada. June 19, 1998. Building and administering an online survey
can test the skills of even the most experienced webmaster. You need to
design any number of HTML forms, write the CGIs to accept and process the
data, hook everything into your database, and then process the results.
Even if you start with a database application like FileMaker 4.0 that’s
already web-enabled, you still have to build all your questionnaires from
scratch, and customize the analysis for every survey you run.

Waves In Motion has simplified all this with version 4.0 of The Dragon,
which consolidates into one cross-platform FileMaker solution everything
you need to build, administer, and analyze any number of concurrent online
web surveys.

The Dragon features a simple editor that allows you to build surveys from
four basic question formats that let respondants choose one answer from a
list of possible answers, make one or more choices from a list, enter a
numeric value, or type full text responses and express their opinions.

You can define which questions must be answered and which can be left
blank. You can edit your questions, move things around, and change your
answers until you’ve created exactly what you need. You can customize a
message to thank each respondent for participating in your survey, and The
Dragon even allows you to award a prize to every nth person who responds.

Once you have finalized your survey, all you need to do to publish it to
the World Wide Web is to run The Dragon on a computer connected to the
Internet. You can open your survey to the general public or restrict it to
specific people. And, if you choose, the people who respond to your survey
can instantly view the results of the survey online as they are tabulated
and graphed.

If you want more control over the people who respond to your surveys, The
Dragon offers several levels of respondent authentication. The Dragon can
automatically filter out multiple responses from the same e-mail address,
or you can supply a list of addresses from which you desire a response.

This strict authentication allows you to target very specific groups of
people. Each potential respondent is sent a unique password that allows him
or her to participate in your survey. The Dragon lets you e-mail these
messages through FileMaker, or you can automatically export larger mailing
lists to eMerge, the bulk e-mail merge application from Galleon Software.

The Dragon lets you run your surveys for a set period of time or until
you’ve received the desired number of responses. You can view these
responses one by one, deleting those you don’t want to keep, or exporting
everything to another application for further processing.

The Dragon, however, includes most everything you need to analyze your
results. You can view your data question by question or prepare a report
for an entire survey. The Dragon displays the results numerically and
graphically. More importantly, The Dragon also gives you the tools to start
looking for patterns in your data through sophisticated cross-tabulated
analysis. You could, for instance, analyze a survey that included questions
that asked for each respondent’s sex and annual income, and generate a
specific report for all the women who responded to your survey AND who earn
more than $30,000 a year.

The Dragon lets you quickly get a survey up and running for immediate
feedback on the issues facing you and your organization. Online surveys can
provide any business with a simple barometer of your customers’ concerns
and opinions. In fact, when it’s this easy to create, publish, and tabulate
an online survey, there’s very little standing between you and the
information you need to make your important decisions.

You can purchase The Dragon for $189.00 US online from the Waves In Motion
website:

Or take advantage of their Desktop Communications Bundle for $239.00, which
includes the desktop version of The Dragon for the data entry of printed or
telephone surveys, and a copy of eMerge, the bulk e-mail merge application
from Galleon Software (http://www.galleon.com) and the simplest and fastest
way of distributing authentication passwords and following up with the
people who respond to your surveys. Waves In Motion also offers educational
discounts and special pricing to developers looking to create their own
custom survey solutions.

For all their products, Waves In Motion offers a demo version you can try
before you make your purchase. The demo version of The Dragon offers all
the functionality of the full product except that it restricts the number
of people who can respond to your survey to fifty.
