SMITH MICRO SOFTWARE RELEASES MacComCenter PLUS v3.0
Fully Integrated Fax, Voice & Data Communications Package for the Macintosh
Now Supports Global Village Modems, Fax-on-Demand, Paging and More

ALISO VIEJO, CA — Smith Micro Software, Inc. (Nasdaq NMS: SMSI) today
announced the release of MacComCenter Plus Version 3.0, the latest edition
of its fully integrated fax, voice and data communications software for
Macintosh computer users.

With the release of MacComCenter Plus v3.0, Smith Micro is once again
demon-strating its commitment to supporting the Apple platform by providing
Macintosh users with a cutting-edge solution for many of their desktop
communications needs. In particular, the new version of MacComCenter Plus
includes support for modems built by Global Village, a leading third-party
suppli-er of Macintosh-compatible modems. Moreover, it incorporates
fax-on-demand function-ality, allowing a remote caller to phone into a
Macintosh to retrieve pre-configured faxes. “This is an excellent feature
for small office and home office (SOHO) environments, as it arms small
businesses with the marketing arsenal to compete with their larger
competitors” said Rod Lippincott, Product Manager for Smith Micro Software.
It also includes a unique new paging function that enables Mac users to
send both numeric and alphanumeric messages directly from their computer to
any individual with a pager.

“The enhancements we’ve made to MacComCenter Plus v3.0 further solidify its
leadership position as one of the most powerful and complete communications
software solutions available for Macintosh computers,” said Mr. Lippincott.

MacComCenter Plus features extensive faxing capabilities, including
user-friendly drag and drop faxing via Smith Micro’s unique Drag n’ Fax*
feature, a full-featured Cover Page Designer, and the ability to send
broadcast faxes to an unlimited number of recipients. It also offers
background faxing and rasterizing, and supports single-click faxing from
Macintosh applications as well. In addition, with MacComCenter Plus, users
can send high-quality 64-shade grayscale faxes, and can also use the
program’s built-in OCR functionality to automatically convert received fax
documents into text for editing purposes.

MacComCenter Plus includes a sophisticated, yet easy-to-use voice mail
system that features a unique Call Announcing function with innovative
text-to-speech technol-ogy that allows users to play Caller ID information
through their speakers. Plus, it supports full-duplex speakerphone
capability and allows up to 8,000 secure voice mail boxes to be accessed
remotely with password-protection.

MacComCenter Plus includes a free copy of Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0,
and also offers a number of other noteworthy features including: integrated
fax and voice phone books, extensive data communications and file transfer
capabilities, a status applet for visual feedback and notification of
activities, and simultaneous serial port access supporting up to five
modems.

Smith Micro distributes MacComCenter Plus and its other retail
communi-ca-tions products through Ingram Micro, Tech Data, and Merisel.
MacComCenter Plus v3.0 is available as of June 30, 1998 through computer
