ALADDIN SYSTEMS SHIPS INSTALLERMAKER 5.0 – POWERFUL NEW FEATURES CREATE
COMPLEX INSTALLERS WITH EASE

InstallerMaker 5.0 Now Supports
Hierarchical Packages And Sub-Level Assignments

Watsonville, CA -June 30, 1998- Aladdin Systems, Inc., developer and
publisher of the software distribution and installation standard StuffIt
InstallerMaker(tm), today shipped InstallerMaker 5.0. Version 5.0 separates
packages under hierarchy for custom install and assigns conditions, actions
and packages to files and folders deep within the installer archive. Now,
utilizing custom installs is easy and painless.

“InstallerMaker’s newest enhancements are exciting developers who want
options and ease-of-use in their software development,” said Pauline
Shumake, InstallerMaker product manager. “With the addition of hierarchical
packages and sub-level assignments, InstallerMaker 5.0 is the developer’s
solution for their customers’ installation ease.”

Five Powerful New Features in InstallerMaker 5.0

InstallerMaker 5.0 supports hierarchical packages. Developers can now
create root packages and two tiers of sub-packages, producing a cleaner and
more organized installation dialog for the user and developer.

Developers can apply conditions, actions and package settings directly to
items within folders in the installer archive, which significantly
increases the ease of creating complex installers.

“Network Install” tasks have HTTP installation support to create installers
that download and process files from an HTTP web site. This functionality
is essential for the developer who wants an active presence on the
Internet.

Internet PrefSaver(tm) has been revised with Internet service providers
(ISPs) in mind. It now includes phone number support and allows for capital
letters in the name and password fields.

The InstallerMaker application supports the Mac OS 8 platinum-style interface.

Other InstallerMaker Features

* Creates installers that make decisions during installation using “if,”
“then,” and “else,” support through “Install When” conditions

* Supports a multiple language software license dialog prior to
installation, builds installers in multiple foreign languages, and creates
installers in custom languages

* Easily creates custom installers that turn standard software into
trialware without any coding – end-users simply purchase the software with
the click of a button

* “Network Install” tasks allow developers to specify an FTP or HTTP site
on the Internet with a path leading to a file to retrieve and install

* StuffIt Engine support for Internet installers, enabling them to expand
StuffIt (.sit) files, open .zip files, decode MacBinary and BinHex files

* Integrated ShrinkWrap(tm) support for creating disk images as part of the
build process

* Updater architecture that easily updates FAT applications even when
stripped of 68K or PowerPC code
