Team ASA Announces Macintosh OS X Beta support for its Stallion Copper and
Fiber Gigabit Ethernet Adapters
San Diego, CA — Team ASA Inc., manufacturer of high-performance networking
products for PrePress and Digital Media professionals, today announced
support for the Macintosh OS X Beta operating system for its Stallion
family of gigabit ethernet adapters. Team ASA is the first company to
support both Copper and Fiber based Gigabit Ethernet Network Interface
Cards (NIC) for Macintosh OS 8, OS 9, and OS X Server and now OS X Beta.
Team ASA continues its tradition of being the first in the marketplace to
update its drivers to the latest Macintosh Operating System. Drivers have
been optimized to achieve files transfer rates in excess of 20 Megabytes
per second.
Universal Driver Eases Installation Process
All networks cards come with a universal installer. “Our goal is to make
the transition to Gigabit easy, and with our universal installer the user
simply picks their operating system and adapter characteristics and they
are off and running,” states Mark Murray President of Team ASA. Network
administrators can monitor the network through a new control panel which
provides information on the adapters connected to the network.
About the Stallion Gigabit Ethernet Adapters
The copper Stallion GT uses Category-5 cabling with an operating distance
range of 100 meters. “This is a great advantage for legacy buildings wired
with copper”, says Mark Murray President of Team ASA. “Network
administrators can use existing cabling which will ease the transition to
Gigabit Ethernet and reduce installation time and set up costs
significantly.” The Stallion GE-II uses multi-mode cable and can operate
at distances of up to one half a kilometer.
The Stallion Gigabit series fiber and copper adapters are an advanced
series of PCI Network Interface Cards (NIC) utilizing the IEEE P802.3z and
P802.3ab specification for support of 1 Gigabit Ethernet.
The suggested retail price for the copper Stallion GT Gigabit Ethernet
adapter is $895.00 while the fiber Stallion GE -II retails for $995. Both
the Stallion GT and the Stallion GE-II carry a three-year warranty.
Cross Platform Solutions
Team ASA, Inc. designs, develops, and markets high-speed cross-platform
networking communications solutions for Pre-Press and Multi-Media
professionals. Team ASA’s products increase the productivity of
professional users working with large files in networked environments. Team
ASA solves the common problem of long time delays when sending large
multi-megabyte digital files across a network. In January of 1998 Team ASA
introduced the Stallion GE, the first Gigabit Ethernet adapters for both
Windows NT and Power Macintosh computers.
Team ASA is the exclusive North American distributor of MacServerIP, the
first AppleShare type server for Windows NT to support the Apple File
Protocol over TCP/IP. MacServerIP is 2 to 4 times faster than Windows-NT
Services For Macintosh (SFM). MacServerIP users access the NT server via
the standard AppleShare IP interface.
