Gateway today announced that it will be laying off 15 percent of its US staff and 25 percent of its worldwide staff, or a total of 3,500 jobs. The PC maker, which has struggled of late to find its niche in the industry, also said it may exit the European market altogether. Shares of Gateway have slid from nearly $70 a year ago to under $10 recently.
