Graphic Simulations Corporation is now shipping Red Faction, a unique first-person shooter developed by Volition that was first released on the PlayStation 2 this past spring. Players take the role of Parker, a miner employed on the distant planet of Mars who suddenly finds himself an integral part of an uprising against the Ultor Corporation. Red Faction includes both single- and multi-player game modes, fifteen weapons, five fully-equipped land, sea, and air vehicles, and a ‘GeoMod’ technology that allows much of the world’s terrain and objects to be destroyed by explosives. The game, which sells for US$35, will initially ship with support for OS 8/9, while a Carbonized patch for Mac OS X compatibility will be released in the coming weeks.
