Niemeijer Consult to introduce accessibility solution for Mac OS X

Following our note regarding a TidBITS article yesterday that discussed the lack of accessibility solutions on the Mac, Niemeijer Consult contacted MacMinute with information on its upcoming product for Mac OS X, KeyStrokes, an on-screen keyboard solution. The software, which provides an on-screen keyboard to people who cannot use a regular hardware keyboard but control their computer with mouse, trackball, or head pointer equipment, is currently in beta testing and expected to be formally announced in the coming weeks. The company also noted that the process of porting the software to Mac OS X has been a difficult endeavor, but employees within Apple’s accessibility solutions group “have been and continue to be cooperative in ironing out problems.”
