Maine juggles with budget and iBooks

Despite continued criticism from members in the state government, Maine intends to go through with its plan to deliver 33,000 iBooks to seventh- and eight-grade students across the state over the next two years, according to the Associated Press. Critics have called the US$37.2 million contract with Apple superfluous as the state faces a $250 million budget shortfall this year. The state’s $30 million contribution to the program, which was originally slated to be as much as $50 million, may face further cuts.
