U.S. Government to aid in fight against spam

The U.S. Federal Trade Commission is set to initiate a law enforcement campaign next week against fraudulent and deceptive junk e-mail, also known as “spam,” as noted by Newsbytes. In addition, the Direct Marketing Association will introduce new e-mail privacy standards on Monday requiring its 2,000 member companies to adhere to strict guidelines or face expulsion from the group. The FTC campaign comes largely in response to receiving over 10,000 individual pieces of spam per day forwarded from consumers to the agency.
