Apple has released QuickTime Streaming Server 4, a new version of its open-source, standards-based streaming server for Mac OS X Server 10.1 or later with MPEG-4 and MP3 streaming capabilities. The software does not require an MPEG-4 license and therefore is available immediately. Features include the ability for MPEG-4 content to be streamed live or on demand, the ability to serve MP3 files or playlists, enhancements to the Web-based administration tool, and quality of service and skip protection enhancements.
