Formac has introduced its devideon superdrive, a new FireWire DVD-R/RW and CD-RW drive based on Pioneer’s DVR-104 technology. The drive is bundled with Formac’s proprietary DVD authoring software for Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X, which offers an enhanced MPEG encoder that converts iMovies and QuickTime files into the format required for DVD creation. The software allows users to tune the quality of video and audio output, allowing for over six hours of video to be burned to a single DVD. The divideon superdrive will be available later this month for US$549.
