Maine’s iBook plan secure for now

The State of Maine’s plan to furnish seventh and eighth grade students with iBooks remains secure for the time being even as the State faces a US$180 million budget shortfall, according to The Bangor Daily News, as noted by MacSurfer. The $37 million contract with Apple is in a special reserve account that cannot be touched unless the State Legislature, which is currently adjourned, decides otherwise. However, the plan could presumably be cut back despite the investment that has already been made.
