Nikon has announced a recall of 90,000 CoolPix 2000 digital cameras after the company discovered excessive heat from the battery can warp the camera’s case. Nikon will replace cameras with the following serial numbers free of charge: 2010001-2042816, 2510001-2543248, 3010001-3060980, 3510001-3561916, 4010001-4063334, 4510001-4555696, 5010001-5014664, 5510001-5512592. Other cameras are not affected by the recall. According to Nikon data, 48 percent of CoolPix 2000 cameras were sold in Japan, with 29 percent in Europe, 12 percent in North America, and 11 percent in other regions.
