Canon unveils 11.1-megapixel camera

Canon has announced an 11.1-megapixel addition to its EOS digital camera line today. The new EOS-1Ds, which is intended primarily for studio photographers, features a magnesium alloy body for strength, 45-point autofocus, 21-point evaluative metering, simultaneous RAW + JPEG recording, 10-mode White Balance and 5-mode Color Matrix selection. The new camera offers an 11.1-megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor featuring a maximum resolution of 4064 x 2704 pixels. The EOS-1Ds will begin shipping in November for a suggested retail price of US$8,999.
