Maxtor, along with the additions to its Personal Storage 5000 family of hard drives that were announced earlier today, is demonstrating an innovative IEEE FireWire 800 concept drive at Macworld Expo (booth #2248). The concept design is built with a Maxtor 7200RPM, 200GB drive with 8MB cache to leverage the transfer rate of the new interface. FireWire 800, based on IEEE 1394b, is the newest version of the industry’s multimedia bus, with significant bandwidth, speed, distance and overall performance improvements.
