Sony CEO interested in buying Palm software

Sony CEO Nobuyuki Idei said in an interview in January that the company is interested in purchasing the operating system division of Palm. In an article posted on its Web site on Tuesday, AlwaysOn quoted Idei as saying, “I really want to own either Symbian or Palm — I want to buy them. Three years ago the Palm was so simple, but it is getting better and better. My problem now is that as [a] Palm licensee we have to pay them lots of money.” The article did not indicate whether Sony had approached Palm about purchasing the unit and gave no details about a possible acquisition.
