JVC Streamcorder now compatible with QuickTime 6

JVC today announced that its GY-DV300 Streamcorder professional camcorder is now compatible with Apple’s QuickTime 6 and industry standard MPEG-4. The JVC GY-DV300 is the world’s first 3 CCD broadcast-type hand-held camcorder with the capability of recording simultaneously to tape and providing QuickTime compatible MPEG-4 program content for streaming over the Internet, according to JVC. The QuickTime 6 compatibility is made possible with JVC’s modular KA-DV300 network package, which attaches to the bottom of the camcorder and provides a slot for a LAN card or compact flash card, permitting full end-user control over all camera functions from a remote location. All JVC KA-DV300U network packs shipped after April 1, 2003 will incorporate the QuickTime upgrade. JVC anticipates shipping the ISMA compliant version of MPEG-4 in the near future.
