Canon today introduced the CanoScan LiDE 50 USB scanner, an ultra-slim flatbed unit that offers scanning with up to 1200×2400 dpi optical resolution and 48-bit color (both input and output) for over 281 trillion possible colors. The US$99 scanner comes with a host of Mac software, including Adobe Photoshop Elements 2.0. The CanoScan LiDE 50, which will ship in July, is compatible with Mac OS 9 or later and OS X 10.1 or later. Canon also debuted two new desktop color bubble jet printers today. The i350 printer sports a small footprint and delivers color resolution of up to 4800×1200 dpi and produces print speeds of up to 16 pages-per-minute (ppm) in black and up to 11 ppm in color. The i250 has advanced Microfine Droplet Technology, for up to 4800×1200 dpi color resolution and print speeds up to 12 ppm in black and up to 9 ppm in color. Both printers work with Mac OS 8.6 or higher and OS X 10.2.1 or higher. The i250 and i350 printers will be available in July for a suggested retail price of $49.99 and $59.99, respectively.
