WebDesktop 2.0 integrates Apple’s WebKit

Panic developer Steven Frank has released WebDesktop 2.0, an update to his software that layers a fully-functional Web browser over your Mac OS X desktop. The new version utilizes WebKit, Apple’s HTML rendering engine from Safari. This means that Web pages should appear exactly as they do in Safari, including advanced features such as animated GIFs, CSS and Flash. The software also offers optional periodic refreshing for news pages and other sites that update frequently. WebDesktop requires Mac OS X 10.2 (Jaguar) or later and Safari 1.0.
