Notes from Apple keynote at Jupiter Plug.IN Conference

Peter Lowe, Apple’s director of marketing for applications and services, recently concluded his keynote at the Jupiter Plug.IN Conference & Expo, which is taking place at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in New York City this week. PaidContent.org has posted several highlights from Lowe’s presentation. Of note, Lowe reaffirmed that “iTunes for Windows is on track to launch by the end of this year” and addressed usage rules for the Windows version: “Certainly it is our intention to have the broad music rights.” He also said Apple believes that “subscriptions are the wrong path” and “the Web is not the best interface to enjoy music.” In addition, Lowe noted that “Out of all our iTunes sales, 46 percent has been sold as albums… The disintegration of the album has not happened, contrary to what people are saying.”
