First disposable digital camera introduced

An article in The Mercury News, as well as Michael Tchong’s Trendsetters newsletter, notes that a San Francisco-based firm has introduced the world’s first disposable digital camera. Pure Digital Technologies is selling the camera through Ritz Camera outlets for US$11. The 25-shot, 2 megapixel camera, which is sold under the Dakota Digital brand, comes with a flash, but lacks an LCD screen. “Users can delete the last shot taken, but not multiple shots, and can’t download the pictures at home. Instead, they must return to a Ritz or Wolf Camera location to get prints and Photo CD in lieu of negatives,” notes the story.
