PreFab’s UI Browser 1.2

PreFab’s UI Browser 1.2

North Andover, MA — November 2, 2003 — PreFab Software, Inc. is pleased to
announce the release of UI Browser 1.2, an update to its utility to help
scripters write user interface scripts using Apple’s new “GUI Scripting”
technology for AppleScript in Mac OS X version 10.3 and higher.

UI Browser 1.2 adds full support for many new features of Mac OS X 10.3
“Panther,” which was released on October 24 by Apple Computer, Inc.

A free trial of UI Browser 1.2 is available now at PreFab.com. Normally
priced at $55.00, PreFab is offering an introductory price of $39.95 through
December 31, 2003. Download the free 30-day trial version at
www.prefab.com/uibrowser/ .

PreFab UI Browser is the ultimate assistant for GUI Scripting. It helps
scripters explore, control and monitor the user interface of most Mac OS X
applications, navigating the interface hierarchy then generating useful
AppleScript statements with a single click.

UI Browser 1.2 takes advantage of all of the new “accessibility” features
introduced in Mac OS X 10.3 “Panther,” including support for many additional
user interface elements — including text. New UI Browser features include
the ability to highlight any of a target application’s user interface
elements on screen to make them easier to find. UI Browser 1.2 is a free
upgrade to owners of earlier versions of UI Browser.

Scripters can now write and distribute scripts that will run “out of the
box” on all Panther-equipped Macintosh computers, because Apple’s GUI
Scripting support software is automatically included in all installations of
Mac OS X 10.3 “Panther.” With this new standard feature of Panther, even
applications that do not formally support AppleScript are scriptable.
AppleScript’s power to automate repetitive tasks and workflow solutions has
grown by an order of magnitude in Panther, and UI Browser is available now
to help you take advantage of it.

UI Browser 1.2 contains several other enhancements, many that work even
under Mac OS X 10.2 “Jaguar.” These enhancements include the ability to view
and print a formatted report listing the selected element’s path and all of
its actions, attributes and notifications at once; new generated scripts,
including an enhanced “tell block wrapper” that helps users turn on support
for GUI Scripting in System Preferences; a greatly enhanced notification log
window; improved Path view; new menus; the ability to turn off help tags; a
few bug fixes; and many new Preferences settings to customize the way UI
Browser works for you.

PreFab Software, Inc. has unrivaled experience in scripting the GUI,
shipping PreFab Player since 1994. For this Mac OS X product, PreFab joined
forces with well-known AppleScript and Cocoa guru Bill Cheeseman to bring
you a utility that makes GUI Scripting easy.
