Circus Ponies Updates NoteBook

1.2 Release Adds 1-Step HTML Export, Security Framework, and More

SAN FRANCISCO, November 5, 2003 — Circus Ponies=81 Software today
announced a free software update for NoteBook=81, the most popular
product on Mac OS X for organizing, accessing, and sharing notes. The
1.2 release adds a number of major new features to NoteBook, including
1-Step HTML Export, a Security Framework, and others.

“In only eight months, NoteBook has turned into a runaway hit for
taking notes on Mac OS X,” said Jayson Adams, vice president of
technology at Circus Ponies. “Working with our users, we’ve created a
powerfully simple web publishing model, along with a framework to
address today’s heightened security and data privacy issues. We’ve been
delighted by the response to these additions and we know they will
convince even more Mac users to love NoteBook.”

Highlights of the 1.2 release are as follows:

1-Step HTML Export allows NoteBook users to publish single pages, whole
Notebooks, or anything in between to the web for sharing with Mac,
Windows, and Linux users on corporate networks or on the World Wide
Web. A full range of customizable export and publishing options allow
users to configure the style, content, and site structure of their
published Notebooks.

The new Security Framework was created for corporate, SciTech, higher
education and other users whose computing environments require a higher
level of security. NoteBook’s Security Framework provides configurable
covers, password protection, and optional encryption of data file pages
for privacy and safekeeping of sensitive information in networked or
multi-user environments.

Multidimensional Sorting allows users to sort their data using one or
more criteria, and includes several built-in “sorting routines.” Users
can also save their frequently-used sorting routines as “Favorites.”

Enhanced Searching introduces three new kinds of searches for
case-sensitive, wildcard, and literal or “exact phrase” searches. These
can be used either alone or in combination with other search criteria
via NoteBook’s exclusive Super-Find feature.

Action Item Management has been enhanced and now offers personalized
color choices for completed, overdue, and due-today action items.

Fully Illustrated Online Help – created using NoteBook’s own HTML
Export feature – provides step-by-step instructions accompanied by
screen shots to help users get started or learn advanced techniques.

Many other features and enhancements have also been added. A full list
of new features is available on VersionTracker at
