Other World Computing (OWC) today introduced its new Neptune line of external FireWire hard drives. The Neptune drives feature a custom Oxford911 bridge solution, two six-pin FireWire 400 ports, a 7200RPM drive mechanism, 2MB or 8MB data buffer, transfer speeds of up to 400Mbps, and backup and restore software. The compact drives (1.5x 9x 5.5-inch) weigh 2.7 pounds, and boast a shock resistant design for maximum portability. They are available in 60GB (US$109.99), 80GB ($129.99), 120GB ($159.99), 160GB ($189.99), 200GB ($239.99), and 250GB ($299.99) capacities.
