iPod ranks 3rd in ‘Top 100 of 2003’ guide

AudioRevolution.com has launched its annual “Best of” guide for 2003, naming what its editors consider to be the “100 absolute best audio-video (AV) components on the planet.” Apple’s iPod digital music player came in third place in this year’s guide. About the iPod, AudioRevolution says “The fact that the Apple iPod allows you to carry 4000 songs in your pocket is certainly a perk, but now, with their iTunes software and pay-per-download service, the iPod is even more essential. If you love music, you need an iPod to take with you to the gym, to play in the car, to connect to your computer at work and beyond.” The top five winners this year were, in order: TiVo, Mark Levinson No. 40 (AV preamp), Apple iPod, Energy Take 5.2 (loudspeakers), and Meridian 800 (DVD player).
