Adobe posts record profit, revenue

Citing strong sales of its Creative Suite, Adobe on Thursday reported record first-quarter earnings and revenue. Net income for the quarter rose to a record US$123 million, or 50 cents a share, from $54.2 million, or 23 cents a share, reported in the first quarter of fiscal 2003. Revenue rose to a record $423.3 million, from $296.9 million a year earlier. “Our outstanding quarter was driven by strong global revenue from the new Adobe Creative Suite and record revenue from our Intelligent Documents business. This highlights the increasing relevance of Adobe technology platforms to creative professionals and enterprises worldwide,” said Bruce Chizen, Adobe’s CEO. “Given the impressive start in Q1, we have raised our fiscal 2004 financial targets.”
