Compromise in EU vs. Microsoft case?

A European Union judge has said that the court may seek a compromise with Microsoft, while the company continues its efforts to appeal the €497.2 million fine imposed last week, reports The Wall Street Journal (paid subscription required). “Bo Vesterdorf, the president of the European Union’s Court of First Instance, didn’t talk about the Microsoft case directly,” writes James Kanter for WSJ. “But, in an interview, he explained his views on deciding on suspension requests. He said that companies succeed in winning a suspension of sanctions only about one in 10 times, and that he was disposed to look for alternative solutions.” Neither Microsoft nor commission officials had any comment on the judge’s statements.
