Symantec and EarthLink are launching a new subscription-based Internet security service that resides on the user’s desktop and blocks viruses, hackers and other Internet threats. Unfortunately, the service is for Windows users only; Mac users are directed to the Symantec online store to find a “Mac solution that’s right for you.” The subscription-based Internet security offering will feature Symantec’s Internet security solutions, including Norton AntiVirus and Norton Personal Firewall, and will be billed monthly on the subscribers’ EarthLink invoice. They’ll be available as a bundle, featuring both Norton AntiVirus and Norton Personal Firewall, for US$5.95 per month — or either program can be subscribed to separately for $3.95 per month.
