Gefen’s newest CAT5 extender, the US$995 CAT5-9000, is designed to “provide comprehensive computer component extension capability for operating a well-stocked computer workstation away from CPU noise or similar interference.” It accommodates such peripherals as a monitor, two audio, microphone, plus PS/2, USB and RS-232 peripherals. It can be used to extend gaming computers that include a 3D graphic display, headsets with microphone for online networking with other players and a variety of peripherals that use USB, PS/2 or RS-232.
