Shiira Mac OS X Web browser uses Apple’s Web Kit

Shiira is a free Mac OS X Web browser based on the KHTML rendering engine provided by Apple’s Web Kit. “The goal of the Shiira Project is to create a browser that is better and more useful than Safari,” explains the Japanese developer. The current version of Shiira (0.9.1) offers tabbed windows; bookmark management; the ability to share bookmarks with Safari; side drawer showing bookmarks and history; bookmarks toolbar; search field with choice of search engine; customizable toolbar; and cache control panel. All source code for the browser is publicly available under the BSD license.
