iPod’s Shuffle feature highlighted

The New York Times has an interesting piece on the iPod’s Shuffle Songs command. The article contains stories from iPod owners on how the songs chosen by the Shuffle option has wrecked evenings or been inspirational to them. Some even think that their iPod has a mind of its own when choosing what songs to play. When confronted with theories about the way the iPod choses the random tracks, Stan Ng, Apple’s director of iPod product marketing, laughed. “The funny thing about it is that it really is random,” he said. “When you turn on Shuffle Songs, it creates a randomized list of all the music on your iPod without repeating a song.”
