MSN Music Store expands in Europe

Microsoft today expanded its MSN Music Store to eight new countries in Europe, reports Reuters. The eight new countries added include: Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Spain, the Netherlands, Austria and two versions for Switzerland — in French and German languages. These new additions provide the music download service 19 market versions in 17 countries, 13 of which are in Western Europe. “If you take all the new countries, we expect to overtake iTunes very soon because we will have a larger user base to tap,” said Arndt Salzburg, who oversees Microsoft MSN’s entertainment efforts in Europe, Middle East and South America. Last week Apple launched an expanded European Union version of the iTunes Music Store, adding Austria, Belgium, Finland, Greece, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal and Spain to the the mix.
