Are Macs simply objects of devotion?

The BBC’s North American correspondent Stephen Evans has posted a column about the Apple Macintosh fan base. Clearly this issue has been written about many times in the past, but in light of Apple’s recent successes and a flurry of media attention surrounding the company, more and more articles are bringing it up again. In his column Evans writes “There seems little doubt that the products are very good. Its strong attractions are usability and good looks (though not usually price until this week’s announcement of a less expensive home computer).” But what he really focuses in on is Apple’s marketing and the “Cult of Mac,” as he calls it. The publication also asked its readers for their feedback, which makes for some “interesting” reading.
