MacXware today announced a new collection of 1,000 classic, designer and refined fonts that “seek to standardize the use of fonts in the OpenType font format, and better suit the needs of both personal and professional users.” The MacFonts 2 collection includes 1,000 unique fonts not found in the original MacFonts. MacXware said the OpenType format offers several advantages over TrueType, PostScript and other font formats. These include a single cross-platform compatible font file; a smaller font file size; the ability to embed fonts into PDFs; superior print quality; improved language support; and advanced typographic control. MacFonts 2 is now available for US$29.99.
