Fourth World releases WebMerge 2.4

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Fourth World releases WebMerge 2.4

LOS ANGELES, California – 16 February, 2005
Fourth World today released 4W WebMerge 2.4, an upgrade to its popular
tool for Mac OS and Windows that generates static Web pages from
database or spreadsheet data. The new version provides multiple IF
conditions with AND and OR operators, wiki-like syntax options for rapid
content publishing, even faster performance, and other new features.

WebMerge works with any database or spreadsheet that exports in
tab-delimited, merge, or other tabular formats, including FileMaker Pro,
Microsoft Access, and most affiliate data feeds. Using simple tags in
templates created with any HTML authoring tool, WebMerge makes a new
page from the data in each record of the exported file. WebMerge can
also create index pages with links to each of the detail pages.
Generated pages can be hosted on any Web server without the need for a
specialized database hosting solution.

New features in WebMerge 2.4 include:

– WM-If tag has been extended to support multiple conditions, with AND
and OR operators and nested parentheses to allow complex evaluations of
data from multiple fields.

– The new WM-Wiki tag lets you to use simple markup syntax in your
database fields to publish web content more easily than with straight HTML.

– The WM-ImagePath tag has been extended to allow standard HTML image
attributes which will be included in the generated code.

– Generated pages can now have file names up to 255 characters on Windows.

– Much of the program has been highly optimized, resulting in
performance that’s often more than twice as fast as earlier versions.

– All paths to directories and other settings are now stored as relative
to the settings file, making it easy to move WebMerge-based solutions
from one computer to another.

– Revised and enhanced Help content, with convenient links to
third-party tutorials and other online resources for getting the most
out of WebMerge.

– Improved appearances on both Windows XP and Mac OS X.

“Our customer base has grown to include everyone from magazine
publishers to affiliate marketers, with a lot of small e-commerce
businesses in between,” said Richard Gaskin, president of Fourth World
Media Corporation. “Focusing this upgrade on content and layout
flexibility helps WebMerge keep up with their growing needs, and the
revised Help lets new users jump on board more easily as well.”

“We currently have just under a half-million web-pages built using
WebMerge,” said web developer Fred McGregor of Web-Procreate.com.
“Updating pages is easy, with some of our sites we simply double-click
our setup file, and replacement pages are built and uploaded
automatically, a real timesaver for us. WebMerge was always pretty fast,
and the speed boost in version 2.4 makes our work even easier.”

WebMerge 2.4 is available in a free download at the publisher’s Web
site: (http://www.fourthworld.com/products/webmerge/).

WebMerge can be used for free to generate up to 20 pages and has all
features enabled with no time limit. Registered copies of WebMerge have
no limit on the number of pages that can be generated.

A single-user license costs US$99. Licenses can also be purchased in
groups of five or ten at a substantial discount, providing an affordable
option for web developers to share their workflow solutions with their
clients. Registered users of earlier versions get this upgrade for free.

WebMerge requires Windows 98/NT/2000/ME/XP or Mac OS X 10.2 or later, 64
MB total system memory, and 9 MB disk space.
