LaCie today unveiled the Biggest S2S, a five-bay RAID tower capable of reaching interface speeds of 3Gb/s with next generation serial ATA (SATA) technology. With sustained transfer rates of 187MB/s, this compact tower is designed for fast real-time storage of uncompressed video files thanks to its true SATA II-to-SATA II connection., the company says. Some of the features of the new drive include scalable capacities of up to 2.5TB, support for uncompressed video editing, automatic online rebuilding, and more. Pricing has been set at US$1999 for the 1.25TB version and $3499 for the 2.5TB version. The LaCie Biggest S2S will ship in the US beginning this month and worldwide in September.
