iBook program in Cobb County is over

In a story in The Atlanta Journal-Constitution today reports that the Cobb County school board members have decided not to pursue their plan to provide a total of 63,000 iBooks to teachers and students in grades six through 12, notes MacObserver. “Board Chairwoman Kathie Johnstone made the announcement late Monday after board members met with attorneys for two hours and 15 minutes. She said the board unanimously concluded that Cobb’s controversial program ‘is no longer an option.’ The decision could close a rift that has roiled the community for months,” reports the story. A number of parents and teachers had question whether the program was worth the money required.
