IGG Software today announced the upcoming release of Tiger-based iBank 2, a new and completely rewritten version of its popular financial management application. New features allow users to manage budgets and investment portfolios, reconcile accounts with bank statements, work with multiple currencies, and import transactions from QIF, OFX, and CSV files. The application also supports AppleScript and Automator, and features a redesigned aqua-interface. Smart import rules, new in iBank 2, allow users to download bank transactions without extraneous bank-defined characters. Instead, iBank 2 recognizes common transactions and applies user-defined payees, transaction types, and budget categories to each. Pricing has not yet been determined, but current users of iBank will be offered a discount when upgrading. A release date was not announced.
