Forbes has published its annual list of the world’s richest people. “In our inaugural ranking of the world’s richest people 20 years ago, we uncovered some 140 billionaires. Just three years ago we found 476. This year the list is a record 793. They’re worth a combined US$2.6 trillion, up 18% since last March. Their average net worth: $3.3 billion,” notes the magazine. Apple CEO Steve Jobs was ranked 140th with a net worth of $4.4 billion. The top three billionaires were Bill Gates (Microsoft) at $50 billion, William Buffet (Berkshire Hathaway) at $42 billion, and Carlos Slim Helu (in Telecom) at $30 billion.
