San Francisco, CA. September 4, 2006 – BitRock Incorporated announced
today the release of MAMPStack 5.5, an easy to install distribution
of Apache, PostgreSQL, PHP, Python, and supporting libraries for Mac
OS X. Its user-friendly installer, developed with BitRock’s
InstallBuilder tool, allows users to quickly install and configure
MAMPStack on Mac OS X.
MAMPStack is licensed under the terms of the Apache License 2.0, and
is free for download and use from (http://www.bitrock.com/). It
allows users to take advantage of the stability, low cost and high
performance of the AMP web development platform (Linux, Apache,
MySQL, and PHP/Python) without the hassle of integrating,
configuring, and supporting their own build. MAMPStack 5.5 provides
an integrated package that can be used by both commercial and open
source projects for rapid, consistent deployments in both development
and production environments.
“Our stacks make it easy for new users to get up and running with
open source software by providing a fast, nearly ‘error-proof’
installation process for the end-user.” Said Daniel Lopez, BitRock
Founder and CTO, “BitRock Stacks are also great for people managing a
large number of servers, because they can be deployed in unattended
mode to ensure consistent installations in enterprise environments.”
BitRock not only offers MAMPStack, but a wide range of packaged
distributions of open source applications. Also available are 2
versions of the LAMP stack and BitRock MonoStack, an easy to install
distribution that integrates with the Mono Runtime to create a
complete Mono development environment.
BitRock Stacks highlight the company’s expertise in integrating and
packaging software for easy installation and configuration. In
addition to its standard Stacks, BitRock specializes in building and
packaging customized distributions of open source tools and
libraries. Its Custom Stacks provide a cost-effective way for ISVs
and internal IT departments to ship a complete, integrated
distribution that includes their software and the third party
components that it depends on in an easy to install package. The
resulting installers present a streamlined installation process that
reduces both support calls and end-user frustration, helping
companies to speed product adoption.
