PORTLAND, OR (October 2006) — LaCie today announced it is the first to
offer a complete burning and LightScribe Direct Disc Labeling solution for
all operating systems. This includes the first-ever LightScribe Labeler
software for Linux, a new version of LightScribe Labeler software for Mac,
and SureThing LightScribe Labeler for Windows.

Innovative LightScribe technology enables consumers and businesses to burn
silk screen-quality labels on to LightScribe-enabled CDs or DVDs right in
the drive–no printing supplies are required. LaCie’s LightScribe Labeler
for Linux offers direct-to-disc label burning for projects burned with K3b.
New Mac software is Universal and supports simultaneous printing to
multiple drives. Free software downloads for Mac and Linux are available at
www.lacie.com/lightscribe for anyone with a LightScribe-enabled drive.*

LaCie Product Manager Anne Bordet said, “We’re the first company to offer
an all-in-one data writing and LightScribe labeling solution for all
operating systems. LaCie was first to ship a LightScribe-enabled CD/DVD
drive for the Mac, and now our user-friendly LightScribe labeling software
is available for free to Mac and Linux users with LightScribe-enabled
drives. With LaCie’s complete burning solution, people can easily and
simply create professional looking CDs and DVDs on Mac, Linux or Windows.”

LaCie LightScribe Labeler for Linux is simple and intuitive, allowing users
to burn customized images on to LightScribe discs in three easy steps:
import, resize, print. K3b Founder Sebastian Trueg said, “We’re happy to
see that LaCie is developing tools for Linux users, and are pleased to work
with them to make it happen. With the LaCie LightScribe Labeler for Linux,
K3b users now have access to the latest disc-labeling technology from
LightScribe, and a complete burning solution thanks to LaCie.”

LaCie LightScribe Labeler for Mac supports printing the same project on
multiple drives simultaneously. Multi-drive printing is quicker and costs
less than third-party DVD duplication services. Daisy-chain up to 999 units
together to create a duplicator-like effect and print hundreds of
professional-looking discs for events, business meetings, key customers and
more. LaCie LightScribe Labeler is designed to reduce CPU usage so the
owner can continue working on other jobs while printing completes.

“LightScribe is pleased to continue to work with LaCie to change the way
consumers and businesses burn and label their CDs and DVDs,” said Kent
Henscheid, LightScribe Marketing Manager. “With these new solutions, now
customers with any operating system create great-looking disc labels
anytime, anywhere.”
