KACE (http://www.kace.com), a systems management appliance company,
has announced what is says is the industry’s first appliance-based
systems management solution for Apple’s iPhone.
The new technology allows IT administrators and business users to
provision, configure, and control policies for the iPhone as they
would with any other managed device, says Marty Kacin, chief
technical officer and co-founder of KACE. The company’s KBOX family
of appliances offers ystems management support across Mac, Linux, and
Windows operating systems.
KACE offers an appliance-based approach that allows IT administrators
to cost-effectively manage multiple operating systems from a single
interface, Kacin says. KACE’s new iPhone support complements Apple’s
iPhone Configuration Utility, providing centralized and easy
management of multiple configuration profiles and tools to apply them
based on policies across the enterprise, he adds.
The new iPhone support is also designed to complement existing KBOX
Mac OS X management capabilities, including hardware and software
inventory, patching, software distribution, remote administration,
help desk, and asset management. iPhone management will be available
in beta this September.
