WinMagic updates SecureDoc to version 4.6

WinMagic (http://www.winmagic.com), which specializes in disk
encryption, says it’s solved the problems associated with deploying
enterprise-class full-disk encryption throughout a heterogeneous
computing environment including support for Mac and 64-bit Windows
clients. SecureDoc now provides centrally-manageable and
fully-transparent, ‘always-on’ full-disk encryption for Windows
(2000/XP/Vista) and Mac – making it simple for organizations to
protect all data on all servers, desktops, laptops and removable
media.

Mac computers are often not included in encryption deployments – many
enterprise networks are primarily Windows-based, and Mac platforms
are used by select departments or individuals (including many
executives). SecureDoc offers the ability to deploy and manage
encryption for Mac desktops and laptops from the same console that is
used to manage the Windows machines. This drives greater efficiency
for IT & Security staff while ensuring sensitive data is protected.
Centralized escrow and management of encryption keys also ensures
continued access to data for authorized users in the event of lost
passwords, departing employees or other challenges.

SecureDoc also supports and manages hardware-encrypted disk drives
such as the Seagate Momentus FDE and BlackArmorT drives, as well as
the upcoming TCG “Opal” specification drives from other leading drive
manufacturers. This provides organizations with the flexibility to
deploy any combination of hardware and software-based encryption – or
transition between the two – with full transparency for end users and
a consistent management interface for administrators.

Additional versatility results from SecureDoc’s ability to simplify
the deployment of any combination of sector-based full-disk
encryption, file-and-folder encryption, container encryption and
self-extractor encryption. This not only makes it easy for
organizations to customize data protection to meet specific security
protocols, but also ‘future proofs’ their investment in SecureDoc for
Windows, Mac and Linux environments.

“Comprehensive data security requires protection across many types of
endpoints and many platforms,” said Thi Nguyen-Huu, CEO of WinMagic
Inc. “With more organizations utilizing a combination of operating
systems, it simply makes sense to provide a single solution that
provides cost-effective and user-friendly full-disk encryption for
heterogeneous environments,” Nguyen-Huu continued. “SecureDoc now
makes it simple for the administrator and end user to ensure all data
on all devices is protected at all times – whether they are working
on Windows and Mac.”

Simple and reliable to deploy, SecureDoc provides administrators with
powerful centralized management across multiple operating systems and
endpoints, leading to superior control and a lower total cost of
ownership for the solution.
