Nova Media updates GlobeSurfer III

Nova media has released an update to its 3G router, GlobeSurfer III
(http://www.novamedia.de/e_pages/e_produkte_gs_3.html. Now, in case
of an Internet breakdown, the router automatically switches to a 3G
connection and back once the original connection is available again.

GlobeSurfer III is a 3G wireless gateway router that connects to the
Internet by mobile network providers and allows a local network to
share this Internet connection through Wireless LAN and Ethernet.
GlobeSurfer III can be administered using any Internet browser and
features a Quick Setup Wizard.

Within mobile networks, the router supports download speeds with up
to 7.2 Mbit/second and upload speeds with up to 5.7 Mbit/sec. Within
a local network GlobeSurfer III supports WLAN connections with up to
54 Mbit/s and Ethernet connections with up to 1000 Mbit/s. It can be
used worldwide.

The built-in USB 2.0 port supports external drives and printers to be
connected to the router and accessed by all computers in the local
network. In addition, a standard telephone can be hooked up to the
router to make and receive calls using the mobile network. To boost
the signal strength in areas with difficult reception, an external
antenna can be attached.

GlobeSurfer III costs approximately USS$342. It supports Mac OS X
10.3.9 and higher, as well as Windows 2000, XP, Vista.
