Here are the latest iPhone/iPod touch/iPod/iPad apps announced. You can find ’em at the Apple App Store (http://www.itunes.com/appstore/).

Skype has released the new version of its free iPhone application. It allows iPhone users to make and receive Skype-to-Skype calls, and to call mobiles and landlines around the world at low rates for the first time over their 3G data connection.

FourthFrame Technologies has announced Project Pad 1.0, their new project management app for the iPad device. The US$9.99 tool is designed with both professionals and non-professionals in mind.

Blue Wind has released Zombie Shock 1.0, a $1.99 action/adventure game for the iPhone OS. The shooter is based on the story of a genius biochemist who has contracted the FEAR virus and must escape from NYC. He must battle zombies, get money, buy better weapons, and upgrade his status. The elaborate manga-style graphics illustrate a story line that includes 50 different scenarios, 11 kinds of zombies, and 18 weapons.

Vemedio has teamed up with Marfil for Jubilee, a $3.99 app solely developed for the iPad. It manages the birthday of contacts in the system-wide address book.

MTV has launched its MTV News app, available free for iPhone and iPad users. The app offers access to pop culture, television, music, movies, celebrity and gaming news articles, video and photo content, as well as MTV’s Buzzworthy, Newsroom, Movies, Hollywood Crush, Multiplayer, Remote Control and Splash Page blogs. Users also have the option to customize their news feed, based on the topic or celebs they care about most, and share multimedia with their friends.

Oceanhouse Media has published two new Dr. Seuss eBooks, plus a children’s game for the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. “One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish” eBook app has been released to honor World Oceans Day (http://www.theoceanproject.org) and the book’s 50th anniversary for $3.99. “Oh, the Places You’ll Go!” eBook app is $3.99. And “Up With A Fish” is a fun and addictive stacking game that costs $0.99.

Paul Masson has rolled out Obscure Apps 1.0, an $0.99 tool to find hidden treasures in the Apple App Store. It offers lists of highly rated yet virtually unknown apps.

Kitty Code has released Hurricane HD in conjunction with the start of the 2010 Atlantic Hurricane Season. The $3.99 app continues what Hurricane for the iPhone began as a hurricane tracking app. This release includes mapped three- and five-day forecast cones and zoomable map covering storms in both the Atlantic and Pacific oceans.

Punflay has announced Rafter 1.5 for iPhone and iPod touch devices. The $0.99 app’s 71 levels test your logic and problem-solving skills. In Rafter there’s one objective — destroy a miniscule red ball using blocks of different shapes and sizes.

Thumbstar Games has released Shifters 1.0, a $0.99 game for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch users. The game combines elements of skill, strategy and fun.

Sinecure Industries has launched Backlash 1.2, an update to the $0.99 strategy/puzzle game for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. In the game, the player launches a ball with specific force and direction to bounce it into the goal. The control scheme is akin to bumper pool, but the environmental obstacles make it a challenge as the levels progress.

Synium has extended two of their iPhone applications to utilize the full potential of the iPad. MobileFamilyTree, the highly acclaimed companion application to MacFamilyTree, as well as Motocross, the exciting Motocross arcade game are available for the iPad starting today. Updates are free for existing customers. Both applications run on iPhone as well as the iPad.

Joy Entertainment has unveiled Music Idol 1.1 for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. The $0.99 app reinvents the “American Idol” experience, but for social media.
