AdMob says Android catching up to the iPhone

According to a new report from AdMob — which stores and analyzes handset and operator data from every ad request in its network of more than 15,000 mobile web sites and applications — Apple’s iOS (the operating system formerly known as iPhone OS) fell to 40%, while Google’s Android is headed towards 30%.

The latest analytics reports done by the company show that Android continues to draw market share from the iOS.  A year ago, the iPhone owned almost 50% of the smartphone market by web traffic while Android had only 5%, notes “Fortune” (http://tech.fortune.cnn.com/2010/06/30/admob-android-continues-to-take-market-share-from-apple/).

By the way, AdMob is now a subsidiary of Google, which makes the Android operating system for mobile devices. I’m just sayin’, is all.
