Mobivention has announced Mahjong Mountain 1.0 for the iPhone and iPod touch. It’s based on a classic Chinese game concept that has the goal of finding matching gaming pieces. Additional difficulty levels are included through different game layouts and different pilings of the pieces. The first 1,000 downloads of the full version are free. Uncommon Projects has unveiled Marco Friend Locator 1.0 for iOS, a free SMS powered app that shows the user’s location on a map, along with that of any friend with a smartphone, so they can find each other. Connected via the Marco website, the recipient can automatically respond. Now linked, the user can see both their locations instantaneously.

Brain Counts has debuted ABC Phonics Word Families 1.0, their first iPhone/iPod touch/iPad app. The $1.99 game consists of five different learning modules to reinforce the comprehension of word families.

Zappos.com, a destination in online apparel and footwear sales, has launched Zappos’ first Mobile shopping application for the iPad. The free app allows users to search, shop, read reviews and make purchases on Zappos.com.

Vito Technology has announced Family Doctor — Symptoms and Diagnosis, a $4.99 app for iOS devices. It reproduces the symptoms checker book ”Home Adviser” with interactive features. The 150 symptom charts are designed to help you determine the importance of your symptoms.

MobileApp Systems has announced iLuaBox 1.0, a $9.99 Lua scripting environment running on the iPad. It’s an embeddable scripting language that has been used in many industrial applications, with an emphasis on embedded systems and games. In addition to Lua’s standard function libraries, iLuaBox includes a special function library developed specifically for the Apple tablet.

Richard Zmuda has announced Breast Cancer Treatment News 1.1 for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad users. This $4.99 application provides users with the latest breaking breast cancer research and treatment news. One new article sourced from a peer-reviewed medical journal is sent each day to a user’s device.

PAL Games has introduced FokkerSkurge 1.2 for the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. The $3.99 3D flight simulator game lets users take part in realistic re-creations of World War 1 dogfights, complete with aerial maneuvers sound effects. Players simply tilt the device to steer the plane and tap the screen to fire the machine guns. After one or two practice runs, users are ready to take to the skies.
