The Apricorn Aegis Padlock drive is now available in 750GB, 500GB, and 250GB capacities. It uses a physical numeric keypad instead of a biometric reader or software to give you access to the drive’s storage.
The benefits of the keypad are that you can use the drive on any computer, plus you can share the drive with a group via the PIN number. You can also set the drive with guest PINs for flexibility, though this requires an installable utility.
The Aegis Padlock has security features including either 128-bit or 256-bit AES encryption, military grade FIPS PUB 197 validated encryption on the 256-bit model, a wear resistant keyboard, Apricorn’s Variable Time Circuit (VTC) technology, and Apricorn’s “brute force, self destruct” feature.
The Aegis Padlock starts at US$89 for the 128-bit encrypted 250GB drive, all the way up to $199 for the 256-bit milspec model 750GB drive. The drives are available now from resellers in the U.S., Canada, and online at http://www.apricorn.com .
